The Michigan School Counselor Association was chartered in 1964 as a state division of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).  The Michigan School Counselor Association has developed programs with the objective of providing the most current professional development and assistance to Michigan school counselors.

Our Mission. The goal of the Michigan School Counselor Association (MSCA) is to be the leading advocate for the role and programs of professional school counselors.  We strive to provide meaningful growth and development opportunities for professional school counselors.  By demonstrating visionary leadership in developing new and supportive services and programs for members, the MSCA maintains an organizational structure that provides a strong resource base from which to operate.

 
Our Program
Developed for Michigan school counselors by MSCA in 1991, revised in 1997 and 2005
Based on the Missouri Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program
Approved in 1992 by the State Board of Education as the recommended guidance program for Michigan school counselors
Aligned with The ASCA National Model, A Framework for School Counseling Program in 2005
Cross-referenced with Michigan Curriculum Framework and the Michigan Model for Comprehensive School Health
